Hi everyone! First of all, sorry I’ve been so MIA from blog-world the last few days! I’ve been busy with school and my computer had some problems, but they are all fixed now! I have a bunch of homework to finish this weekend, but I also want to do some experimenting in the kitchen and maybe go shopping for some winter clothes because it is freezing where I live! What are your weekend plans?
This morning I hit the snooze button about 7 times. Apparently I was already in weekend-mode and woke up half an hour later than usual. It felt so good to get some extra sleep, though!
I wanted a quick breakfast so I topped a piece of crisp bread and toast with butter and honey, had some raspberries and a Activia yogurt on the side. Plus, a cup of green tea to wake me up! :)
Lunch today was warm and filling! I had some Rewe Feine Welt Noodles, some steamed spinach and a two egg white omelet with deli turkey meat and Swiss cheese.
Since it’s pretty chilly where I live, I was craving a warm and comforting dinner! I had a bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup (I also added one egg white) with a slice of fresh whole wheat bread from a local bakery. Yum!
Some other recent eats include:
Two pieces of whole wheat toast topped with butter and one piece of crisp bread topped with butter and honey. Plus, a banana topped with cinnamon on the side.
Bowl of Greek yogurt, soy milk, peanuts, organic chocolate cereal, frozen raspberries and strawberries.
Two pieces of rye toast topped with butter with a bowl of strawberries, raspberries and a banana topped with cinnamon and peanut flour sauce on the side.
Not so pretty looking bowl of oatmeal (made with water and soy milk) with raspberries.
In my previous post I asked if some of you were interested in a foodie swap and got lots of comments from bloggers saying that they would love to do one! So, if you’d like to do a foodie swap with me, feel free to e-mail me (healthifulbalance@gmail.com OR go to my contact page for a fill out form) and we can work something out! :)
Today I was planning on doing a cardio and weights workout, but decided to have a rest day instead. I think my body really needed the rest! I used to feel “guilty” about having a rest day during my ED days. Now, I’ve realized that they only HELP my body recover and HELP me to perform better during my next workout.
Also, stay tuned because on Monday I’m announcing another giveaway! ;)
Why do you think its important to have a rest day? What are you most looing forward to this holiday season? Ever have days where you press the snooze button a few times for some extra sleep?
what exactly is a foodie swap?
ReplyDeleteYummy eats! That crusty bread you had with the soup looks so good. Good for you on taking that rest day! I still struggle with taking them at times - I did one on Tuesday but must admit felt like on Monday/Wednesday I was trying to make up for it a bit. My goal is to eventually look at each day alone, as its own workout, and not determine what I do for the day based on what I did other days!
ReplyDeleteMmm, I'd kill for some warm homemade chicken noodle soup right now.
ReplyDeleteYuuuumm. That bread looks so doughy and delicious, and I definitely need some warm soup to go with it too! It's been pretty cold here too, and I am not equipped for it :)
ReplyDeleteI love all bread!! Toast is such a comfort food for me! SO yummy! Way to listen to your body girl!!!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes struggle with taking rest days! But soo true! Your body needs it :)
ReplyDeleteI struggle with rest days sometimes too, but they're so vital for our bodies :) love all your eats girl!! Hope your weekend rocks!
ReplyDeleteRest days are sooo important! I definitely have trouble with them sometimes but now I know I NEED at least one a week!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to *everything* about the holidays - the movies, the music, the smells, the spirit, the shopping the tastes....they all just make me feel so jolly!
ReplyDeleteAnd I believe that, if you're regularly exercising, you should have at least two rest days a week. Recovery is important and (if you're weight lifting) it's when your muscles build! If you're doing cardio, it's what protects your joints, tendons, and the ever important IT band. I'd rather go slow for years and years than go hard for a year and then have my body in the gutter. :P
Blog when you want to! No pressure from me. :) But I can't do the snooze button think - it annoys me.
rest days are important! i know its so hard though, but your body is thanking you. ive had to convince myself of this lately as im still not allowed to exercise yet. your food looks delicious though and your so inspiring! i hope you get your homework done, school can be rough! amy
ReplyDeleteRest days are so important! I always keep Friday free from exercise (except walking to work) and often another day during the week too.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend! :)
Wonderful eats! Rest days help your muscles recover also helps you mentally prepare for your next workout. I still feel guilt about taking rest days...your not alone there!
ReplyDeleteAll your food looks so good! Not going to lie, I would do anything for that bowl of homemade chicken noodle soup :)
ReplyDeleteI think rest days are super important! I don't think I COULD go 7 days a week ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd um, some days where I press the snooze button? Try EVERY day! :)
Lovin the mini meals! Best way to eat to keep the energy up imo!!
ReplyDeleteI love early mornings so no snooze button for me =) I don't even use an alarm! My body naturally wakes up at about 5-6 AM. But I also go to bed early.
I take EVERY Sunday as a rest day. Best decision I've ever made. It's crucial to let your body rest and recover... plus, my monday morning workout is just AWESOME!!!
ReplyDelete:)
My oats always look like that! Sometimes they look purple from blueberries haha.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to everything about the holidays! I loveee the holidays.

ReplyDeleteI'm sure those sticky rolls helped alot. man, they look deeeelicious!!
ReplyDeleteyum love all your eats! and rest days rock!

ReplyDeleteLooking at all of your photos really makes me want raspberries! All of your food looks delicious, as usual!
ReplyDeleteI did the exact same thing this morning! I slept for a good 45 minutes longer than I intended to and it felt sooo good. Sometimes sleep just has to be priority!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you listened to your body and took a rest day. I've been focusing on doing that too, lately, and it always makes my next workout even better!
All of your food looks delicious, as always. (: And I'm definitely going to email you about possibly doing a foodie-swap in the future!
Love all of your eats! It looks delicious! It is very important to have rest day so that your body can rest and perform better. Have a great weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteRest is important! Your meals look delicious! Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteRest is sooo essential but I definitely struggle with them! I just have to remember how much I am benefiting my body.
ReplyDeleteGood for you for taking a rest day and listening to what your body needs. I try to take at least two per week and I'm glad that I do - it really helps me challenge myself more during my workouts :)
ReplyDeleteThat's some cute looking pasta!! And what is exactly a foodie swap? I think it'd be fun if its something like a blog party :)!
ReplyDeleteI had a major lie-in on saturday, only waking up when the delivery men knocked on the door with my new tumble dryer - they were treated to the sight of me with bed hair and in my Big Bird slippers... :-)
ReplyDeleteYour food always looks so good! :D this holiday season, I'm looking forward to just spending time with the family! Since classes have started I've barely seen them so it'll be nice to just relax and see them finally.
ReplyDeleteSuch nice pictures! Everything looks amazing, seriously. I think rest days are SO necessary. I usually take one or two a week, and they are the BEST! Taking the time to recover is so important :)
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm definitely looking forward to spending time with the fam this Christmas! I miss them so much!
Rest days are absolutely a MUST! Your body needs time to repair itself and this is impossible with out taking at least one day off (some suggest at least 2). I used to struggle with this but now I probably take more rest days than I should haha!
ReplyDeleteYum...your meals look very tasty! So what exactly does a foodie swap entail? I don't think I've ever heard of one before, but I'm interested :)
ReplyDeletegood for you! Rest days are so underrated, and they do help us SO much!!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great rest day and weekend!
Scott
Rest days are definitely important!
ReplyDeleteI had one yesterday because I felt under the weather and I definitely think they help your body get back on track :-)
Your food all looks yummy, I really need to buy some frozen raspberries!
I often let my alarm go to snooze for a while in the morning if I don't have to get up :-P
Hope you had a good Monday!
