Hey! How are you all doing? I’m enjoying my Saturday night by listening to music, blogging and eating a slice of this:
I will be sharing the recipe soon!
I know I have been seriously slacking when it comes to blogging. I’m really sorry for being so absent lately. Last week was my last real week at school, this upcoming week is just filled with field trips. So, I decided to skip WIAW and not blog as often and spend time with family and friends instead.
Recent Lunch: Scrambled eggs (1 egg, 2 egg whites, lactose free cheese and peas), two slices of whole grain toast topped with butter and jam.
Before I get back to my normal blogging routine/schedule, I wanted to share a somewhat life changing update.
Recent Post Workout Shake: Spinach, protein powder, 1 tablespoon coconut flour, stevia, water, ice cubes and xanthan gum.
I’ve cut out lactose for one whole week because I noticed how much it gave me problems. I’ve always been a bit lactose sensitive but it’s gotten worse over the past few years.
So, did switching to lactose free milk and yogurt help? Did cutting lactose out of my diet for one week make any difference?
Yes, it did! My stomach hasn’t been bloated at all. Eating too much dairy caused my stomach to look like I ate a basketball.
Recent Breakfast: Kellogg’s Special K Cereal with blueberries and lactose free milk.
I think cutting out lactose really made a difference. I will be avoiding it for the next two weeks and see how it goes. If I notice any more changes (for the better) I might be getting this issue checked at the doctor, too.
Recent Dinner: Chicken breast, peas, couscous and a hard boiled egg.
I’ll be sure to update you all on this. :)
Anyways, I hope you are all doing great! I’m really looking forward to catching up on all of your blogs.
Do you lead a dairy free diet? What do you like to do on a Saturday night?
I've always been pretty lactose intolerant. It got better once I got older, but then it got so much worse. I thought it was gluten, and really it's just IBS now, but I do find that sometimes dairy kills me. I cannot have real cows milk, but I can usually have greek yogurt and cheese. So it really all depends! Hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so glad you hopefully figured out what was making your stomach upset!
ReplyDeleteaaah lactose intolerance!! I’m so glad you’ve pinpointed it, seriously being bloated all the time is NOT fun. I am pretty unable to tolerate dairy...I eat froyo anyways because its just so good (and it’s only once in awhile haha) but yeah even greek yogurt makes me blah! I’m actually having bloating issues right now too despite not really eating a ton of dairy, so I might need to do some elimination myself! Oh also that first picture......i cannot WAIT for that recipe. it looks insanely awesome!
ReplyDeleteschool work over blogging - always! Don't worry about your lack of posting ;)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear that cutting out dairy helped your stomach!
+1 for not worrying about being absent. Real life is much more fun than virtual ( blogging is good too of course ).
ReplyDeleteI also think that too much lactose makes me feel bad, but i am not cutting it 100% from my diet. I also thought that maybe it's gluten that i have issues with, but i am not sure. Maybe i'll talk with doctor about it sometime ;)
that first picture looks so yummy!! please share the recipe! ; )
ReplyDeletei hope the cutting out dairy will help. my boyfriend gets upset stomachs when he has too much dairy so he tries not to have it very much.
I'm lactose intolerant (too) and you wouldn't believe how many people have the same problem. Most just don't know. It's always good to have it checked out to be 100% sure though. After I found out, I cut out lactose from my diet for about 1-2 months and then slowly introduced some things back. I can eat most foods, but have to be very careful with milk, milk chocolate and ice cream.
ReplyDeleteHowever, yogurt shouldn't really be a problem since the fermentation process actually reduces the amount of lactose present significantly. Have a great weekend!
Your smoothie looks so good!!! (: Love the beautiful bright green color!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear about the lactose intolerance. I'm not really, but I find eating as much lactose free stuff as I can makes me feel better. I cannot wait for that recipe! It looks amazing!!

ReplyDeleteIt's good in one way that not eating lactose seems to be helping you, but bad in another because it means you miss out on so many food choices! I've told everyone if I find out I'm lactose intolerant as well as everything else, I WILL cry - alot :P
ReplyDeleteSo great that helped you! it makes a huge difference. all your eats look delicious! yummmmyy.
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel - too much lactose makes me feel super sick & bloated, although it's already a bit better than a few months ago. I love milk & yogurt, and actually any kind of dairy,a lot though,so I just try to find a good balance. Cottage cheese & cheese are not really a problem for me,anyhow, because they contain almost no lactose! Therefore,I often eat cottage cheese like I used t eat yogurt before - and if I don't want the grain-y texture,I simply make whipped cottage cheese. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I loooooooooooooooove dairy (yogurt? ice cream? froyo? hellooo?) but I'm a bit lactose intolerant myself. Good for you for putting in the effort to try the lactose free stuff - I hope all goes well! And that raspberry thing? Looks AMAZING.
ReplyDeleteAlso, no worries, enjoy the time with your family!
OMG! Can't wait fot the recipe *_*
ReplyDeleteIt looks SO good!!!
And I love to do the same as you on a saturady night - or to party all night long ;)
I also cannot wait for that recipe! It looks really good!
ReplyDeleteI recently got a test done at the doctor to find out what foods I am sensitive to, and it turns out I am very sensitive to dairy. So I have to keep a strict dairy-free diet for the next month, and if it makes me feel better, I'm going to do it for six months, just to give my system a break! It's hard though, because dairy is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait for the recipe!
ReplyDeleteI'm not dairy free, although I don't have much dairy as my stomach doesn't like it.
Ohhh lactose. We don't have the best relationship hahaha. But I still love my yogurt and frozen yogurt too much!
ReplyDeleteThis is really interesting, because I was thinking of chilling out with lactose a bit to see how it goes. But, I don't think I will because I like my calcium :)
ReplyDeleteMy poor friend, I know what you mean - over dairying is not the best but seems like you can easily work your way around it with these stunning recipes :D
ReplyDeleteCheers

can't wait for that recipe! I hope you're enjoying your last week of school :) And I'm glad that cutting out lactose is working for you so far - being bloated all the time is definitely not ideal!
ReplyDeletecan't wait for the recipe either, it just looks SO yummy :)
ReplyDeleteYogurt and hard cheese are NATURALLY low in lactose, so you should have no problem with those. Truly. Most problems simply stem from the milk.
ReplyDeleteAs for allergy testing, etc , research shows that those are very very unreliable and can convince you have issues when you don't.
Frequently, people might find they need to just "reduce" the load of the specific item for a while, then can continue on with it again in daily life.
In other words, try not to worry about eliminating certain foods or you'll drive yourself nuts.
all the eats look delicious as usual! especially that smoothie!
ReplyDeletecan't wait to hear how eating dairy-free works out for you!
Can't wait to see the recipe you've got in the works! And I'm loving the cereal! Looks very familiar... I had a bowl of Kellogg's FiberPlus Caramel Pecan Crunch this morning with blueberries on top. So good!
ReplyDeleteI'm very curious to hear the recipe, it looks good!
